Outstanding focusing system The D810A uses a Multi-CAM 3500FX 51-point auto-focus system, fine-tuned to provide incredibly high-resolution images. Set it in 9-point, 21-point, and 51-point coverage brackets, and sensitive down to -2 EV. Its subject honing method has been improved, and there are more options to 'store by orientation' - plus further options for AF mode restrictions. The system uses 15 cross-type sensors at its centre, and is compatible with AF NIKKOR lenses featuring an open aperture of f/5.6 or faster - or 11 central focus points for apertures of f/8. A refined auto-focus system works exceptionally well, even in darkness, using IR pickup to isolate targets within the frame so you can be sure that you're capturing what you want, which is especially useful for longer exposures.
