High resolution images The 20 megapixel CMOS sensor is designed to deliver high resolution images, even in low light, thanks to its high sensitivity levels. Combined with the Prime MII imaging engine, the K-S1 will deliver true-to-life, detailed images with minimal noise. Anti-aliasing filter simulator Unlike most camera sensors, the sensor on the K-S1 doesn't include an optical anti-aliasing (AA) filter. Instead, Pentax have developed a separate AA filter simulator, which enables the K-S1 to optimise the imaging power of the sensor and allow you more control over moiré-reduction. The AA filter simulator provides the same level of moiré-reduction as an optical AA sensor, but with the added benefits of being able to turn it on or off and the ability to adjust the level of the effect, giving you further creative freedom over your scenes. Intuitive interface The K-S1 uses LED illumination to make it really stand out. The power switch, mode dial, OK button and grip are all illuminated to show the current status of the camera. LEDs on the grip provide both a functional and decorative purpose. They can be used to identify the number of faces detected in a scene or act as a countdown timer during self timer operation, so you can be ready for the shutter and ensure you take the best possible photo. Distinctive design Crafted to be compact in size and sophisticated in looks, the K-S1 merges classic DSLR design with modern elements to deliver a unique body that's both fashionable and functional. A glass pentaprism optical viewfinder delivers brilliant brightness and clarity with less than 1 times magnification to ensure a broad image field for easy focusing and framing. Alternatively, the large high resolution LCD display will deliver excellent image reproduction and a clear and easy to use interface. Full HD movies with stereo sound Capture movies in Full HD and up to 30 frames per second with the high quality H.264 recording format. The built-in stereo microphone ensures that your Full HD videos are accompanied with natural sound. Creative image processing The Effect mode lets you take photos with delivers distinctive visual effects that can be previewed on the LCD screen. In addition to effects, 21 digital filters, such as 'Colour Replacement' can be applied to your photos, with nine of them applicable before shooting. Lenses & Cases One of the biggest advantages of this camera is the sheer shooting flexibility on offer. You can use additional lenses to take wide-angle, telephoto, or close-up shots to suit just about any situation. The shorter the focal length (measured in mm), the wider the view will be – the longer the focal length, the more telescopic the picture.
